HOA & Garage Sales
Greetings! I have held several very successful garage sales. Additionally, I love this time of year, because the garage sales are numerous and full of great discoveries.
I live in a neighborhood now that bans garage sales. They insist its because they attract crime, put children at danger because of additional traffic, cause traffic jams, and hurt the value of our homes. I'm looking for any information available on the merits of garage sales, and specifically, information that will disprove what our HOA leaders are telling homeowners and their rationale for refusing to permit them. I would appreciate it if you could send me some useful information. |

Our HOA holds a community wide garage sale twice a year and it works out great for everyone! People all over the city mark their calenders for these events and the association usually offers some form of entertainment, like a music venue or art market, at the same time. Garage sellers benefit from all the traffic, buyers benefit from the numerous offerings all in one place, and the association benefits by making our community a desirable place to live while hosting a neat and orderly event. In this way everyone wins, you might tell your HOA that there are many ways to organize garage sales to make them profitable and successful for all.
